Importing retailer data

Overview

Stockisto has two ways to bring retailer data in: a file import (CSV or XLSX) under Imports, and a Scrape import of an existing retailer page. Both land in a review queue, and nothing reaches your network until you approve it.

You can import retailers and products. Other entity types are not accepted.

Download a template

Open Imports and click Import templates (/imports/templates). There is one CSV per entity type, Retailers and Products, each with the headers the importer expects and one example row. Delete the example row before you upload.

Field reference

Column names in your file are free. In the wizard's Map fields step you match each column to a target field, so a header like Butik maps to name without renaming anything.

Only Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland are accepted as countries. A row with any other country code is rejected with "Country 'XX' is not supported (supported: SE, DK, NO, FI)".

File limits

  • CSV or XLSX only.
  • 10 MB per file.
  • 10,000 rows and 100 columns per file.
  • Rows count against your plan's monthly import-row quota. See Plans & billing.

Geocoding

If a row has latitude and longitude, Stockisto uses them as the map position. Otherwise it geocodes address, city, postalCode, and country with OpenStreetMap.

If geocoding finds nothing, the row stays valid but has no map pin. Add coordinates in the review queue, or fix the address and retry.

Nordic address formatting

For best results, write addresses the way the postal service does, with the house number after the street. Accented characters (å, ä, ö) are supported.

Duplicate checks

Stockisto compares each row's name and address against the retailers already in your network, within the same country. A close match (a few characters apart) is flagged as "Potential duplicate of location ..." and held for review. Nothing is merged or overwritten on its own. You decide in the review queue whether to approve or reject the row.

The import wizard and review queue

  1. Open Imports and start a new import. The wizard has three steps: Upload file, Map fields, and Processing.
  2. Click Start processing. Rows are validated, checked for duplicates, and geocoded.
  3. Open the batch's review queue. Each row shows its data, its map position, and any validation messages. Edit a row inline to fix it.
  4. Approve or reject rows one at a time, or tick several and click Approve selected or Reject selected.
  5. Approving a row writes it to your retailer network. There is no separate publish step.

Use Download failed rows to get the rejected rows as a file, and Retry failed rows after fixing them.

"Potential duplicate of location ..."Compare with the existing retailer; approve or reject
"File exceeds maximum size of 10 MB."Split the file
"Unsupported file type ... Only CSV and XLSX are accepted."Save the file as CSV or XLSX

Pushing data from your own systems

If you would rather submit data programmatically than upload a file, see the public imports API guide.

Scrape import

If your website lists your retailers (for example a "Find a retailer" page), Stockisto can extract them:

  1. Open Scrape import (/scrape).
  2. Enter the URL of your retailer page.
  3. Tick the confirmation that you have the right to scrape the page, then click Authorize scrape.
  4. The page runs in the background. When it is done, open its review queue and approve or reject each row.

Scrape accuracy

Results depend on the structure of your page. Structured lists give the most rows; embedded maps and unstructured text give fewer.
